Godefroid Munongo

Godefroid Munongo Mwenda Me Siri is a politician of the Democratic republic of Congo, born in 1925, died in 1992.

In 1960, it is the second man of CONAKAT at the side of Moïse Tshombe. He was president by interim of Katanga independent of the April 26th to the June 22nd 1961, Minister of Interior Department of Congo in 1965, president of the province of the Eastern Katanga from July 20th, 1965 to April 24th, 1966, and following the fusion of Eastern Katanga with the Lualaba: governor of the province of the South-Katanga until the November 5th 1966.

It is at the origin of the ethnic cleaning of 1960 to 1962 in Katanga.

Munongo is downward of the king Msiri, the tradesman Nyamwezi founder of the State of Garenganze to the 19th sciècle.
