Godefroi Ier de Namur
Godefroi Ier de Namur , born in 1068, dead the August 19th 1139, was count of Castle-Porcien of 1087 with 1102, then count de Namur of 1105 with 1139. It was wire of Albert III, count de Namur, and of Ida of Saxony.
He married towards 1087 the Sibylle countess of Castle-Porcien, girl of the count Roger of Castle-Porcien, of which:
- Elisabeth, married to Gervais († 1124), count de Rethel, then in Clarembaud de Rosoy. But this second marriage is not certain, bus of the genealogy give for wife of Clarembaud de Rosoy a Elisabeth de Rethel, girl of Gervais de Rethel and Elisabeth de Namur.
- Flandrine, married to Hugues d' Epinoy or of Antoing
In 1102, he became count de Namur and repudiated his wife. It remaria in 1109 with Ermessinde of Luxembourg (1075 † 1143), widow of Albert II († 1098), count d' Egisheim and of Dagsbourg, and girl of Conrad Ier, count de Luxembourg, and of Clemence of Aquitaine, with which he will have four children:
- Alix (1109 † 1168), married in 1130 with Baudouin IV (1110 † 1171), count de Hainaut.
- Clemence (v. 1112 † 1158), married in 1130 with Conrad Ier († 1158) duke of Zaehringen
- Henri (1113 † 1196), count de Namur and of Luxembourg
- Beatrice (v. 1115 † 1160), married to Ithier († 1171), count de Rethel
- Albert († 1127), quoted, at the same time as his/her Henri brother, in a charter of January 7th, 1126 (Barber, History of the abbey of Floreffe, volume II, p. 4).
During its life, Godefroy was a faithful partisan of the Low-Lotharingie emperor in . In 1119, it supported his/her brother Frederic, bishop of Liege against Alexandre de Juliers which also aspired to the episcopal see. The count de Louvain, in favor of Alexandre, was beaten with Huy, but Brabançon devastated the Comté of Namur and the évêché of Liege while being withdrawn.
In 1121 Godefroy founded the abbey of Floreffe, but it had démélés with the authority nuns, despoiling the abbey of Stavelot of its grounds of Tourinne in Hesbaye. It also devastated the monastery of Gembloux, following a litigation concerning the election of the abbot in 1136 and massacred the monks. Three years later, it renonça in the county in favor of his son, and was withdrawn in the monastery of Floreffe. It died there at the end of a few months.
