Godbout archangel
Archange Godbout (1886-1960) is a priest, a preacher, a historian, a monk franciscain, a genealogist and a Canadian professor.
Born with Saint-Vallier-with-Bellechasse, it made its literary studies with the Collège of Montreal then entered to the Franciscain. After its studies with the seminar, it was accepted priest in 1913 by Louis-Nazaire Bégin.
Become Master of the beginners, he taught with the Collège franciscain of Montreal and with the Collège of Three-Rivers. Professor with Metz, it undertakes a work of preaching to Paris before being interested in the Canadian Généalogie. Its principal work is its Origine of the Canadian families , which he undertook with the historical Société of Montreal.
It made a stay in France again, to look further into its research, and on its return to the country it was named vice-provincial of its community. Very active in the publication of scientific articles, it also dealt with social works. The government of Quebec had entrusted the station of to him Recherchiste as a chief for the republication of monumental the Dictionnaire Tanguay.
