Gobe-fly black

The gobe-fly black black or gobemouche ( Ficedula hypoleuca ) is one of the four species of flycatcher which one can observe in France.

Description

In bridal period, the two sexes are dissimilar. The male then has a cap and a black back (sometimes gray-brown) contrasting with its white belly. The absence of collar, a small white spot above the nozzle and an white area on the Rémige S tertiary sectors make it possible to identify it.

The female and the youthful one, like the male in period internuptiale, have a gray back and less white on the wing.

Distribution

Its surface of distribution extends from the Siberia, with the Scandinavia and the Great Britain, in all Europe, in the north of the Carpates and the the Alps, then in France, in the Iberian peninsula and until in North Africa.
