Goat-sucker of Guyana
The goat-sucker of Guyana ( Caprimulgus maculosus ) is a bird of the family of the Caprimulgidae
This species is known only by one male specimen collected on the river Mana in French Guiana in 1917.
Perhaps two made observations with Saül, a bird female with the landing strip in 1982 and two individuals in 1999, refer to this species. There exists for the moment no observation of the live bird in freedom.
The re-examination of the standard specimen (Cleere, 1994) seems to indicate that it is indeed a good species which would not have been observed any more with certainty since its discovery.
