Goa

Goa is a State of the India, located on the coast of south-west. The area was part of the Portuguese colonies of India, forming with Daman and Diu and Dadra and Nagar Haveli, the Portuguese State of India . The regional capital is Panaji, also called Panjim . After 450 years of Portuguese presence, Goa was invaded by the troops of Jawaharlal Nehru the December 19th 1961.

Geography

The State de Goa extends on 3  702 km ² between 14° 53 ' 54" and 15° 48 ' 00" of northern latitude and 73° 40 ' 33" and 74° 20 ' 13" of longitude is. The Mer of Arabia bathes the coast of the State on 101 km. Goa borders the State of the Maharashtra in north and the State of the Karnataka in the south and the est.
Sonsogor is the culminating point with an altitude of 1.167 mètres.
The State is divided into two districts, Northern Goa and Sud Goa.

Climate

It is hot all during the year with Goa. A cold season ago. The highest temperatures are recorded in May (maximum between 30°C and 39°C) coupled to a very strong moisture. The Mousson falls down between June and September. The most pleasant months are December and January with temperatures ranging between 20°C minimum and 30°C maximum on the coast.

Economy

Tourism is the independent source of incomes of Goa. Tourists of the whole world come prélasser on the sunny beaches. The Indians also remain in Goa to escape heats from the summer. Tourism industry is especially present along the coast, its importance being limited inside the terres.
Among other industries, one can quote mining (Fer, Bauxite, Manganèse…), the fishing, alcohol canning facilities and distillings.

The Riz is the principal crop plant with Goa, come then the Cashew nut and the Coconut. The Agriculture, even if its share decreased much during the forty last years, still gives work at a good part of the population.
Fishing employs 40.000 people.

In addition to these idyllic beaches, many tourist excursions are possible in Goa: interior of the area, planted rice plantations favourable with stroll… In the south, virgin forest and cascades.
