The Goa' uld are a fictitious race of Extraterrestre S parasite S invented in the Televised series of Science-fiction Stargate SG-1 .

Origin of the larvae Goa' uld

At the origin of Goa' uld, there are “Queens Goa' uld”, who can be comparable with a queen ant, of which the single goal is to create Larves Goa' uld in their transmitting their knowledge via genetic information. The protée is the animal which resembles more the larvae Goa' uld. Goa' uld are not equipped with a sexuée reproduction; the queens Goa' uld generate Larve S alone. Moreover, one queen can choose to transmit her knowledge or not to her larvae (see the episode “the Queen” of the season 6). Like any Goa' uld, the queens can parasitize the human ones, like made the queen Hathor (see the episode “Hathor” of the season 1).

Hierarchical structure

The hierarchical structure of Goa' uld is founded on a feudal company, made up of “Large Masters Goa' uld” who hold the capacity. Goa' uld trained the Council of the Large Masters to resist the external threats, but they do not direct to in no case other Goa' uld (Anubis, Sokar, etc), those being without stop in conflict to hold more capacity than the others and to dominate the Galaxie. When the Council of the Large Masters takes part in a diplomatic treaty (as it is question in season 3, by including the Earth among planets protected by Asgard), the Large Masters are in the obligation to make respect this treaty by all Goa' uld.

Goa' uld and their hosts

The goal of Goa' uld is to increase their capacity in the galaxy. For that, they must parasitize other races by taking possession of these individuals or “hosts” in order to control them. Their first hosts were Unas then it was the turn of the human beings.

These parasite S has the form of eel S with the long and thick body. They penetrate in the host by the nape of the neck or the Bouche, then they are fixed on the spinal-cord of the host to control his nervous system and, therefore, to act in its place. They take possession of the body thus, of the spirit, and they can also have access to knowledge of the parasitized host. Thus they acquire new technologies coming from other people and they make use of this technological advance to be binding to the technologically less advanced people.

Thanks to the network of the doors of the stars created by the Old , they could discover many worlds and take control of it while being made pass for gods. On Ground, the majority of the Egyptian gods were, in the universe of the series, Goa' uld. They made use of human as workers forced on other worlds and Jaffa in order to carry the Symbiote S until their maturity, moment from which the parasite will be able to take possession of a host and to control it. Thanks to the Door of the stars, the teams of the general Hammond (named teams SG-x where “X” is the number of the team) also discover other worlds and other people at the time of their voyages of exploration, but they run up unceasingly against Goa' uld, whereas they try to persuade the people of these worlds which Goa' uld are forgeries God X.

Goa' uld have capacities of regeneration which bring to their hosts a longevity higher than the normal, being able to go up to 200 years in certain cases, as well as capacities of cure making it possible to make the host more resistant, at the expense of its freedom however. Goa' uld also use sarcophagus S in order to bring back to the life died people, to look after their wounds, but also to lengthen their lifespan. The disadvantage of the use of the sarcophagus S is that those corrupt the spirit of the parasite and the spirit of its host who, with long, acquires the same thirst for being able as Goa' uld.

Within the race of Goa' uld, one finds a minority called Tok' ruffle of which the goal is to counter the galactic domination of Goa' uld. The Tok' ruffle, contrary to other Goa' uld, live in symbiosis with their hosts who can take again the control of the body when they wish it. Moreover, they refuse to use the sarcophagus S in order not to be corrupted like Goa' uld. However, the number of Tok' ruffle does not cease decreasing with time.

The Jaffa

Although Goa' uld can theoretically parasitize any alive form, the interference has great chances of failure for nonmature Goa' uld. Goa' uld " naturel" a chance has on approximately two to succeed in parasitizing a Unas or human. To cure this problem, the larvae Goa' uld are accustomed first of all to their hosts by living their first years in the ventral pocket of Jaffa. Jaffa are the human ones to which Goa' uld installed a ventral pocket in the abdomen during a ritual ceremony, Primtah. A larva Goa' uld is then placed in the pocket of Jaffa. Goa' uld then improves the metabolism of Jaffa as at the time of a normal interference, but does not fix itself at the spinal column: Goa' uld thus does not control its host and is completely depend on Jaffa. The larva increases the force of Jaffa and can cure its wounds, but that is not as easy as at the time of a possession. Jaffa must indeed put in state " Kelnorim ", a kind of meditation.

Once the larvae arrived at the adulthood, they must take possession of a host, under penalty of dying by causing atrocious sufferings in carrying Jaffa. Goa' uld cannot parasitize Jaffa, they must thus find a host non-Jaffa. Once its removed larva, Jaffa must receive another under penalty of death from them since this last does not have any more an immune system following the parasitism which the larva Goa' uld exerted on its host.

The Trétonine can replace the immune system. Jaffa taking of the trétonine can thus do without larva Goa' uld to survive. However, the trétonine is not accepted by all the bodies. Indeed, one could realize that a woman seen in season 7 did not react to the trétonine, it thus died.
