Go to the Mirror! is a song of the Opéra-rock Tommy of the British group The Who, published in 1969.
Genesis and recording
Townshend would have written this song in a hotel Holiday Inn of Rolling Meadows (Illinois) at the time of the American round of the Who, on August 1st, 1968. Go to the Mirror! is one of three the individual resulting ones from the album Tommy . On his face B, one finds Sally Simpson .Go to the Mirror! was selected by the Rock-and-roll Hall off Famed as one of the 500 songs which marked the Rock-and-roll.
Composition
A simple Rif and hooker structure the song. It alternates with the Leitmotiv See Me, Feel Me (sung by Pete Townshend this time). At the end, one notices another recurrent theme of the album, Listening to You (see We' Re Not Gonna Take It ). Roger Daltrey is with the principal song.
Analyzes words
In this song, the hero of the album, Tommy, goes with his parents in a specialist physician. This last makes him undergo a whole battery of test, but does not discover absolutely anything abnormal. The doctor from of thus deduced that the source of the autism of the young man is of origin Psychosomatique. During this time, the spirit of Tommy expresses its desire for leaving its mental prison.
