Go \' yū
The emperor Go ' yū (後円融天皇, Go ' yū Tennō , (January 11th 1359 - June 6th 1393) was the fifth of the applicants of the Cour of North of the Japan. He reigned of the April 9th 1371 with the May 24th 1382.
Its personal name was Ohito (緒仁). Its posthumous Nom was given to him in memory of that of the emperor En' yū (one can translate the prefix Go-, 後, by “posterior”, which thus gives “Emperor posterior En' yū”.)
Genealogy
Go ' yū was the second wire of his predecessor, Go-Kōgon. His/her mother was Nakako Fujiwara (藤原仲子), girl of Kanetsuna Hirohashi (広橋兼綱). It had three children, of which future the emperors Go-Komatsu.
Biography
In 1371, Ohito receives by imperial proclamation the row of Shinnō (imperial prince, and potential heir). Immediately after that, his/her father Go-Kōgon abdicates in his favor. There is then a dissension between Go-Kōgon and another former emperor of North, Sukō, on the nomination of the crown prince, but it is distinct in favor of the son of Go-Kōgon thanks to the support of Yoriyuki Hosokawa, which controls the Bakufu.Until 1374, Go-Kōgon continues to reign as a emperor withdrawn. In 1368, Yoshimitsu Ashikaga is named Shogun, and under its patronage, the imperial Court is stabilized. In 1382, Go ' yū abdicates in favor of Go-Komatsu and becomes emperor withdrawn in his turn. However, it does not hold any real capacity and decides to rebel, trying to commit suicide and showing Yoshimitsu Ashikaga and its Itsuko empress-consort of adultery.
In 1392, peace is concluded with the Court from the South and the time Nanboku-chō ends. Go ' yū dies the June 6th 1393
