Biography

Go-Kameyama becomes emperor when Chōkei abdicates in 1383. The October 15th 1392, on the insistence of the pacifist faction, it requires peace of Yoshimitsu Ashikaga, returns to Kyōto to return the imperial Trésor, and abdicates. The applicant of North, Go-Komatsu, becomes thus the only emperor of Japan.

According to the conditions of the peace treaty, the Courses of North and South were judicious to alternate every ten years on the throne, but Go-Komatsu does not respect this agreement: it reigns during 20 years before abdicating in favor of his own son, and all the emperors who succeeded to him go down from him.

After its abdication, Go-Kameyama lives in reclusion, before turning over to Yoshino in 1410.
