Gnomonique
The gnomonic (of the Greek gnomon , indicator) is art to conceive, calculate and trace sundials.
- One of the first tests on the gnomonique one was written by the German Jésuite Athanasius Kircher in 1635, whereas he was professor in Avignon: Primitiae gnomonicae catoptricae, hoc is horologiographiae novae specularis .

Antoine Deparcieux writes a complete work devoted to this subject in 1741.

Dom Bedos of Those publishes in 1760 practical Gnomonique or Art to trace the sundials with the highhest degree of accuracy , one of best treated time on this subject.
Another use of the term
