Glycéraldéhyde

The Glycéraldéhyde , also called Glycérose , is a Ose with three atoms of Carbone (Triose). Its empirical formula is the C 3 H 6 O 3. It is a Aldose because its grouping Carbonyle is in end of carbonaceous chain. It is the smallest aldose, and thus simplest (there does not exist ose with two carbon atoms). Its Isomère Cétose is the Dihydroxyacétone.

There exist the two shapes of glycéraldéhyde:

  • D-glycéraldéhyde (+), its grouping Hydroxyle is located on the right in Représentation of Fischer. " +" meaning that it deviates the polarized light towards the line. (See optical Activity).
  • L-glycéraldéhyde (-), its grouping hydroxyl is located on the left of representation of Fischer. " - " meaning that it deviates the polarized light towards the left.
