Glume

The glumes are the equivalent of Bractée S, generally two, sometimes more, located at the base of the épillet, typical Inflorescence of the Poacée S (Graminaceous) and of the Cypéracée S.

They are two sessile and alternate foliaceous parts (seemingly opposite), lengthened and as folded into two, which recover and protect the base from the épillet. They in certain cases are finished by an edge (Arista) or bores).

Bractée the lower (Glumelle) is in general smaller than the glume higher, and sometimes, very reduced, seems absent.
