Africa
- Abou Yahia becomes chief of Béni Mérin (Marinides) (fine in 1258). It takes Fès and installs its capital there. It rejects the authority of the caliph Almohade of Marrakech and proclaims vassal Abu Zakariya, caliph hafside of Tunis.
Asia
- Be: Died of Güyük, 3rd supreme Khan of the Mongolian , whereas it went towards the west with its army. Its widow Oghul Qaïmich of origin merkit or oïrat, assumes regency.
- the designation of the future khan poses problem. Oghul Qaïmich would like certainly to raise with the throne his/her son Koutcha, and would grant the election of the nephew of Guyuk, Chiremune so that the branch of Ögödei preserves the capacity. But it runs up against the ambitions of Batu and Soyourghagtani, wife of Tolouï.
The Middle East
- September: Beginning of the Seventh crusade which unloads with Cyprus (with Louis IX known as Saint Louis ) (ends in 1254).
- Louis IX dreams to be combined with the Mongolian to take the Moslems out of clipper. He receives with Cyprus a Mongol delegation which makes him gleam a possible conversion of those with Christianity. He then forwards to the Mongols of invaluable gifts in return. Mistaking on its gesture, the Mongols treat it like simple vassal, while asking him to renew each year its present.
Europe
- February 18th: Battle of Parma. Frederic II fails in front of Parma and loses the Romagna and Spolète. It is withdrawn in Sicily.
- August 28th: Departure of the Seventh crusade organized by Louis IX with Acute-Dead.
- the seneshal of Champagne Jean de Joinville takes part in the seventh crusade at the side of the king Louis IX of which he is the confidant and the adviser.
- Blanche of Castille is regent of France.

November 23rd: The Christian reconquest of the Spain is almost complete with the catch of Seville. The Moslems keep only Grenade.
- Ferdinand III drives out the Moors of Seville (capitulation of the cities of importance being followed, for safety reasons, exodus of the Moslem inhabitants). The population is replaced by Castilians, of Génois, Catalans and Jews. The Moslems or mudéjars are gathered in morerias within the cities where they manage themselves and enjoy a total freedom against the payment of a tribute.
- New lawsuit against the Talmud which is again burned with Paris.
- Of the women is burned like witch with Toul.
- Visit in Sweden of the cardinal-legate Guillaume de Sabina. It takes part in the synod of Skänninge (organization of the first cathédraux chapters, celibacy of the priests).
- the king of Norway Haakon IV begs the Lübeck ois to quickly send grains to Bergen to avoid the food shortage.
- In Morée, the town of Monemvasia (Malvoisie) falls to the hands from Latin.
