Gloria Swanson
Gloria Swanson , of its name of birth Gloria Josephine Mae Svensson , born the March 27th 1897 with Chicago and dead the April 4th 1983, is an American actress .
Biography
Gloria Swanson begins its career into 1913 with the studios of Essanay with Chicago under the name of Gloria Mae. In 1916, she marries in first weddings Wallace Beery, movie actor attending the studios of Hollywood. Gloria Swanson plays in roles of heart to take, of assisted shopgirl, role very with the mode at the time. She plays one first big role in Don' T Change Your Husband (1919), film carried out by Cecil B. DeMille. She will interpret six roles in six films directed by DeMille, and which will be six triumphs.
In 1925, it makes in France a film carried out by Leonce Perret, friend of its third husband, the marquis Henri of the Cliff, in Madam off-handedness . She works on several projects with Joseph Patrick Kennedy, patriarch of the political clan of the United States, by making her beginnings of producing. Certain scandal sheets evoke some adventures between Gloria and Joseph P. Kennedy, adventures denied by the interested parties. Its first experiment as producing is not very happy. For its first produced film, the project is quickly abandoned for excessive going beyond of the budget envisaged.
It puts all its energy and its fortune (and that of his/her friends) in the production of a second film, Sadie Thompson (1928) by allotting the first role. Film which becomes a business success and critical undeniable, which catalogs it like voluntary and daring woman. She plays there the part of a prostitute violated by a fanatic monk, which is worth its first nomination as a better actress to him. The following year, it receives its second nomination for its role in the film The Trespasser . Its company of production carries out a daring film, the Queen Kelly (Queen Kelly) , directed by Erich Von Stroheim. Von Stroheim organizes a financial disorder, the whole added with erotic scenes, considered as libertines for the time. The film has only little success in Europe and it is withdrawn from the poster in the United States, which marks the end of a career of Erich Von Stroheim.
The journalists too early condemn the cinematographic career of Swanson, by inviting it through certain fallacious articles to withdraw itself in 1934. After some attempts at return, it succeeds in being essential in the film Boulevard of the twilight (Sunset Boulevard) of Billy Wilder, where it interprets a role very close to its life. It receives its third nomination for this film. It finishes its career with 747 in danger (Airport '75) in 1974.

Anecdote
During a turning between Gloria and Rudolph Valentino, produced and distributed by the Paramount, a scene required a length kiss of good-bye. The American censure was present and refused these images, that must be withdrawn film, which made say to the director: “Each scene had to be drawn twice, for the American eyes ordered by a stop watch and the other for the foreigners. The Americans will see hardly the widened nostrils of Valentino”.
