Globular crawling

The crawling globular ( Globularia repens ) is a very small turfing plant with blue flowers pushing on the rocks in southernmost mountainous area (the Alps, the Pyrenees). It belongs to the kind Globularia and to the family of the Plantaginacées (formerly Globulariacées).

Description

Ecology and habitat

long-lived Plant (sub-shrub), orophyte of the Pyrenees (until the Corbières) and of the the Alps of the South, pushing between 400 and 2500 meters, generally on the rocks exposed to the sun. Preference for the Calcareous .

General and vegetative morphology

Dwarf sub-shrub, crawling and generally very turfing. The Feuille S all are laid out in basal rivet washer. They are very small, with whole limb coriace and shining, seldom entirely opened, of form spatulée and finished at a peak, with a definitely marked central vein.
