Glaurung
Glaurung is a Dragon appearing in the work of J.R.R. Tolkien.
He is the father of the dragons. He was raised by Melkor in Angband during the First Age. He does not have wings, but is able to spit of fire.
He appears for the first time at the time of the battle of Dagor Bragollach. He constitutes then one of the showpieces of Morgoth at the time of the battle of Nirnaeth Arnoediad, before being seriously wounded by the lord Nain Azaghâl, who dies in the company. Glaurung must be withdrawn.
It is him which is sent to Nargothrond and puts in rout its inhabitants, before settling in the fortress.
It bewitches Nienor, then later his brother Túrin, making them lose the memory. It is mortally wounded by Túrin close to the throats of the Teiglin, with the place known as Cabed-in-Macaws. Its death and the dissipation of the magic spell which it had launched on them returns the memory to the children of Húrin, thus sealing their destiny.
