The glaucophytes ( Glaucophyta ), or glaucocystophytes , of the Greek γλαυχος, “green or blue drawing towards the gray”, and φυτ (ο), “plant”, set up a group of reduced diversity: only 13 Espèce S were described. They are unicellular organization S structured dorso-ventralement, with the round back and with the flattened belly and presenting two Flagelle S unequal lengths. They swim in the fresh water ponds of the moderate areas . Here an outline of the characters which gather the members of this Taxon:

Characteristics suitable for the taxon

  • Of the Chloroplast S, or “  cyanelles  ”, are of color blue-green: the Pigment S accessories contained in the Phycobilisome S are the “  phycocyanine  ” and the “  allophycocyanine  ”.

  • Presence of “  alvéoles  ” under the plasmic Membrane underlain by Microtubule S.

  • Cyanophora paradoxa
  • Glaucocystis nostochinearum
  • Gloeochaete wittrockiana
No fossil species is known.
