Glass-the-bush

Glass-the-Bush is a common French, located in the department of the the Essonne and the area Île-de-France.
Its inhabitants is called Verriérois.
Geography
It is crossed by the Bièvre. The National forest of Canopies occupies a surface of 556 hectares.
History
Canopies depends on Antony until the end of the 12th century, date on which it is set up in parish following the construction of its church. The influence of the monks total on is action the least of Verriérois. However in 1248, Thomas de Mauléon, Abbot of German St, grant to them some latitudes in exchange of a heavy tribute.The forest, which is also mainly property of the Abbey, allured Louis XIV which went there for hunting. It acquires of it. In 1682, it joined the royal field.
In 1815, with the head of the cavalry, the General Exelmans makes movement in edge of the wood of Canopies against the allied troops which threaten Paris.
Demography
With the census 1999, Glass-the-Bush counted: 15523 inhabitants ( Verriérois ). With the last census, Glass-the-Bush counts: 15929 inhabitants.
Policy
Glass-the-bush is a city traditionally on the right. At the first and the second round of the presidential elections of 2007, Nicolas Sarkozy arrived at the head, with respectively 38,33 and 58,77% of the voices. Its UMP mayor, Bernard Mantienne, were senator from February 13rd, 2004 to September 30th of the same year (not re-elected).
Transport
The commune is served by the station of Massy - Canopies, located at Massy, on the lines of the RER B and C. The buses 196 (Massy-Palaiseau - Antony) and 294 (Igny - Châtillon-Montrouge) of the RATP as well as line 8 of Paladin also serve Glass-the-Bush. The night, the noctilien N63 serves Verrières every hour between the station of Paris-Montparnasse and that of Massy-Palaiseau.
Blasonnement
Half-compartment: with the first of money to the torn off sinople oak, the second of azure to the sand escutcheon bent charged with three money besants and accompanied by three flowers by gold lily.
Monuments
Traces of architectural vestiges are visible by satellite in the wood of Canopies: a Juste in overhang of Canopies, another in overhang of Main road 118 and directed towards Beavers and some traces behind Boursidière.
