Glaréan

Of its true name Heinrich Loriti , Glaréan , also sometimes Latinized in Glareanus , (born in June 1488 with Weakened and died 27 or March 28th, 1563 with Freiburg-in-Brisgau) was a humanistic and a Polymathe Suisse. Its name comes from its canton of origin, the Canton of Glaris.

It was at the same time Musicien, theorist of the music, Poète, Philologue, Historien, Mathématicien and Géographe.

Biography

He was the son of a peasant and adviser with Glaris. After having received an elementary formation with Bern and Rottweil, at Michael Rubellus, it leaves to study with Vienna and Cologne. It is named magister in Cologne in 1512 and becomes then poeta laureatus near Maximilien Ier of the Saint Worsens. Following a quarrel with Johannes Reuchlin, it leaves to settle with Basle in 1514. From there, it makes many displacements through all Europe; it remains in particular with Pavia in 1515 and teaches philosophy and the liberal arts with the Université of Paris of 1517 with 1522. In Basle, it tied close links with Erasme and, but, contrary to this last, it did not adopt the Réforme. It is even its categorical refusal of this one which obliges it to leave Switzerland to join the university of Freiburg-in-Brisgau in 1529
