Glain (river)

The Glain is a Walloon river which takes source with Bovigny, bathes the villages of Cierreux, Salmchâteau, Vielsalm (where it filled a small stopping), Halleux, and comes to be thrown in the Amblève with Trois-Ponts.

Before 1977 it marked the border between the provinces of the Luxembourg and Liege.

Since the counts de Salm moved their castle of Vielsalm (literally the Vieille Salm ) to Salmchâteau, Glain beyond the confluence with the Salm has with is often called name of this last: Salm .

  • Glain is also the name of an old commune of Belgium, amalgamated with Liege.
