Gladstone Anderson
Gladstone Anderson is a singer and a pianist jamaïcain. It was born on June 18th, 1934 in Jones Town, in Jamaica.
Musical career
The pianist
Gladstone Anderson is the nephew of Aubrey Adams . In the Fifties, this last is a famous pianist and officiates in the concerts of local jazz and it also integrates the first formations of studio. Gladstone Anderson thus receives a musical education of his/her uncle who then helps it to integrate the backing band Duke Reid into Treasure Isle . It belongs to Supersonics of Tommy McCook. Into the court of its career of pianist, who traverses the Rocksteady and the Reggae, it integrates many formations, directs some and works from there for a multitude of producers. He officiates within the Comets then Jets of Lynn Taitt , Prince Buster' S All Stars and becomes the principal arranger at Leslie Kong where he records in particular the album Sweet Daddy of Toots and the Maytals. This group will find it in 1972 on their album Slatyam Stoot produces by Warrick Lyn. It makes a passage at Sonia Pottinger and takes part in the first sessions of the Wailers for Lee Perry. At the end of the Sixties, it integrates the Dynamites for Clancy Eccles. In the Seventies, Bunny Lee calls upon him for sessions of Delroy Wilson and Slim Smith. He records for Harry Mudie with his group the Gladdy' S All Stars two albums. He becomes the arranger of the studio then.
The Singer
Between 1966 and 1974, it records in duet with Stranger Cole under the name of Stranger & Gladdy (Just Like To be rivetted, Love Me Today). It will also record some reggae roots for its own account with Chanel One.
The Producer
In the Seventies, Gladstone Anderson founds the labels Glad Sound, Gemini, GEA and Sound Rite. On this last, leave some traditional roots signed Winston Jarrett & The Flames or Leroy Smart.
