Glaciology

The glaciology is a science of the Earth which studies physical and chemical nature glacial and periglacial systems. It is thus about the study of the Cryosphère, i.e. of all that milked with the Glacier S, the Glace and the phenomena related to the ice, like the Pergélisol, the transformation of the Neige into Névé, then in Glace, the interactions Air - Neige, etc

The Glaciologue S are concerned with determine the main features of englacées surfaces. From a physical point of view, the glacial weight breakdown and the mechanical behavior of the material freeze are the search key points current. On the chemical level, the interactions between the ice, the ground and the air are studied for better including/understanding the evolution of the ice. Most of the samples of ice are taken on icicles.
