Glaciation of Mindel
Second Glaciation of the quaternary era which extended between -650 000 with -350 000 years approximately. It is about the first massive glaciation shown concerning Northern Europe. Mindel is a river of the Allgau in Bavaria. One calls also this glaciation “of Elster”, of the name of an affluent of the Saale in Saxony: the Elster. The maximum of this glaciation extended until the south from the towns of Dresden, Chemnitz and Erfurt, in the north of the solid mass of the Harz and to the coast of the the North Sea according to the “Feuerstein line”.
