Glacial Bolt

A glacial bolt is a term of Géomorphologie which indicates the reduction in the width and the rise in the rock floor of a Glaciated valley with the right of a zone which resisted better the erosion of the glacier.

The bolt is opposed to the umbilical point which indicates a widening and an overdeepening of the valley.

There exist several possible configurations according to the hardness of the rocks and erosion. The volume of the bolt can be imposing being definitely higher than the upstream or the downstream. The bolts are composed of coherent rocks and constitute fulcrums favourable with the works of Article It also arrives that the bolt occupies part of the width of the valley, seeming then a Colline sometimes escarpée.
