Glénat is a company of edition very present in the field of the Cartoon and the Manga . The group also includes/understands Vents of West and Zenda. The company is originating in Grenoble.
Glénat was the first editor to market mangas in version connected in France, with Dragon Ball and Akira . A long time leader of the market, it is competed with today by Kana, and had to conform to the standard of edition of his competitors (translation, tramage…), more appreciated readers. The name Glénat is in fact that of the founder of the company, Jacques Glénat (formerly critical of cartoon under the name of Jacques Glénat Guttin).
In Quebec
In March 2007, Glénat opens Glénat Quebec, which aims to find authors Québécois of data base in order to diffuse them on the Canadian market and perhaps European. The first public appearance of this division directed by Christian Chevrier takes place with the International fair of the book of Quebec of April 2007.
