Gizeux
Gizeux is a common French of the department of Indre-et-Loire, in the area Center.
It was formerly located in the old province of Anjou.
Its inhabitants is called the Gizellois, Gizelloises .
Geography
The commune of Gizeux is located at the West of the department of the Indre-et-Loire, close to the department close to the Maine-et-Loire. Gizeux is with 15 kilometers in the north of Bourgueil, with 35 kilometers of Saumur, with 35 kilometers also of Castle-the-Vallière and to a little more than one forty kilometers of Tours.
History
The Château of Gizeux is located at about fifteen kilometers in the north of Bourgueil (department of the Indre-et-Loire) in a green and wooded area belonging to the old province of Anjou. It was built with the site of old a strong Château of the 14th century. ( )The seigniory of Gizeux belonged to the family of the poet Joachim of Bellay of 1315 with 1660.
The castle became then property of several marquis de Gizeux of the dynasty of Contades.
In 1790, this part of the Anjou stretching Bourgueil in the south until Castle-the-Vallière in north and including Gizeux was attached to the department Indre-et-Loire.
In 1817, Gizeux annexed the common Saint-Philibert-of-the-Lawn.

- Castle: guided visits and son et lumi2ere displays.
- Church: After the castle, the very close church contains the splendid tombs of Of Bellay. Extremely rare orants of the 17th century was made out of white marble by Ghislain known as of Cambric, director of the royal Academy of sculpture of Paris.

the French writer and poet Joachim of Bellay born with the Castle of Turmelière, commune of To read in the Maine-et-Loire in 1522 and died in Paris on January 1st 1560.

the dynasty of Contades: Louis Georges Érasme de Contades born the October 19th 1704, marquis de Contades and lord of Montgeoffroi, dead the January 19th 1795. It was promoted brigadier in 1740, lieutenant-general in 1745 finally Marshal of France the August 24th 1758. It had two children: Francoise-Gertrude and Georges-Gaspard. This one, born the January 3rd 1726, became marquis de Contades and lord of Montgeoffroi, and is killed in 1794. It had 4 children of which Louis-Gabriel, marquis de Giseux, born the October 11th 1759, dead the June 18th 1825. It was promoted brigadier in 1814. Louis-Gabriel had three children of which Camille-Auguste born the March 10th 1791, which became in its turn marquis de Giseux. His/her brother, Érasme-Gaspard, born the March 12th 1758, marquis de Contades and lord of Montgeoffroi, became in 1815 even of France, general lieutenant and dies the November 9th 1834.
Cultural activity(AP)
Each summer, at the beginning of evening, of the spectacles are organized within the castle by the company of “Pastière”.
Stage performances of Cyrano of Bergerac with an itinerant spectacle through the various places of the castle (home, stables, ditches, gardens). Other animation come to instigate Gizeux the summer, such as concerts, opera-puffs out and spectacles for children the afternoon. Finally " Memories of the feu" night spectacles, in a stage set life size, with the Castle of Gizeux and in its neighborhoods, revive stories of formerly, testimonys and legends of the life of Gizeux through the ages…
