Giuseppe Scortecci
Giuseppe Scortecci is a Italian herpetologist , born the November 2nd 1898 with Florence and dead the October 18th 1973 with Milan.
After the First World War, it obtains a doctorate of Natural history to the Université of Florence in 1921 and then joined the Institute of Comparative anatomy. It becomes then preserving vertebrate lower than the Muséum of natural history of the city then, becomes professor of zoology in 1942 with the Université of Genoa.
Scortecci especially is interested in the Herpétofaune deserts and in particular with the Lézard S. It makes many explorations with the the Sahara, in Somalia and in Ethiopia, it benefits from the expansion of Italian colonization. It makes appear about fifty publications in herpetology of which several books on the fauna of the deserts. He studies the questions of Taxinomie, of Biogéographie, ecology and Physiologie (like the sensory system of the lizards Agamidés and Iguanidés).
