Giuseppe Piazzi (July 7th 1746, Laying in Valtellina - July 22nd 1826, Naples) is a astronomer and Italian Ecclésiastique .

It created the observatory Palermo, discovered the Astéroïde Cérès and showed the relative movement of the star S compared to the Sun.

The Astéroïde (1000) Piazzia was named in its honor, just as one supposed crater on Cérès.

Piazzi receives the Prix Lalande in 1803 of the Academy of Science.
