Giuseppe Cesare Abba

Giuseppe Cesare Abba (born the October 6th 1838 with Cairo Montenotte, close to Soaps, Ligurie - died the November 6th 1910 with Brescia) was a Italian writer and a Patriote garibaldien.

Biography

At 12 years, it enters to the Piaristes to Carcare where it studies the traditional and the Philosophie. It is impassioned for Foscolo, Prati and Aleardi.

It is registered the Academy of Beautiful arts of Genoa which it leaves in 1859 to enlist in the detachment of the Cavalleggeri to Pinerolo. It joined Parma in 1860 to take part in the Expédition of the Thousand: of Genoa, it embarks for Sicily to fight with Calatafimi, Palermo and then with Volturno. This experiment will be fundamental in its life and its work.

In 1862, it is established with Pisa. In 1866, it leaves Pisa to join with Bari the troops of Garibaldi with Bezzecca which prepare an attack against the empire of Habsbourg while passing by the Dalmatie. This project having been given up, it fights with Garibaldi with Bezzecca and obtains the money medal of the military value.

The third war of finished independence, it returns to Cairo Montenotte where it is elected mayor. It comes into contact with Giosuè Carducci which promotes its writings. In 1875, it finishes the writing of the historical novel rivets It della Bormida and in 1880, it publishes Noterelle of uno dei Thousand publishes dopo vent' anni . In 1881, it is named of professor in a college of Faenza and, starting from 1884, it teaches with Brescia.

It pays homage to Garibaldi with the Capitole with Rome in 1903. In 1910, Giuseppe Cesare Abba is named senator. He dies a little later the November 6th 1910 with Brescia.
