Giulio Natta
Giulio Natta (born the February 26th 1903 with Imperia; deceased the May 2nd 1979 in Bergamo), was an Italian chemist.
He discovered the stereospecific Polymérisation ethylene olefins and connections as well as the asymmetrical polymer synthesis having an optical activity. For this work it obtained with Karl Ziegler the Nobel Prize of chemistry in 1963.
What is called catalysts of Ziegler-Natta are metal complexes which are obtained by reduction of connections including of metals of transition (for example Titane (III) - chloride) by organometallic connections (for example, the diéthylaluminium chloride). These catalysts allow obtaining a stereospecific polymerization of olefins normal pressure.
Giulio Natta was of 1933 with 1935, chemistry teacher at the university of Pavia, then of 1936 with 1938, director of the institute of industrial chemistry to the Polytechnic school of Turin, finally starting from 1938, director of the institute of industrial chemistry of the Polytechnic school of Milan. -----
