Gislebert de Roucy
Gislebert de Roucy , died between 991 and 1000, wire of Renaud, count de Roucy and of Rheims, and Albérade of Lotharingie, was count de Roucy of 967 to its death and Viscount of Rheims.
He was probably still child with died of his father. Various honors of this last, it accepted only the county of Roucy, the county of Rheims being entrusted to Herbert the Old man. Later, Eudes Ier, count de Blois and successor of Herbert will entrust the Viscount of Rheims to Gislebert.
In 987, with died of the king Louis V, Gislebert seems to be rejoined without difficulty with Hugues Capet, but it however agreed to lend an oath of allegiance in 990 to Charles of Lorraine, when this last took advantage of its rights to the throne.
He died between on April 19th, 991 and 1000, perhaps into 997, and buried in the abbey of Saint-Remy cheese of Rheims.
Marriage and children
No contemporary document mentions of wife or the children for Giselbert. Its successor with Roucy is the count Ebles Ier. It was thought a long time that Ebles Ier was wire of Giselbert and, to explain the appearance of the Ebles first name in the house of Roucy, of a girl of the duke of Aquitaine, Guillaume III Head of Packing.According to this assumption, and knowing the names of the brothers and sister of Ebles, Giselbert and this princess of Aquitaine would be the parents of:
- Ebles Ier de Roucy († May 11th 1033), count de Roucy and archbishop of Rheims (1021 -1033).
- Eudes (Odo) of Roucy, known as the Fort († August 27th, after 1021), lord of Rumigny.
- Liétaud de Marle, or Létard, Létald.
- Judith which married Manassès II of Rethel, count de Rethel
But a recent study, being based on data onomastics (first names of Lietaud and Eudes not explained by the traditional thesis) and patrimonial (grounds of Rumigny and Marle, had previously by the counts of Blois) leans for another thesis: Ebles Ier de Roucy would be wire of Ebles of Poitiers (itself wire of Guillaume IV of Poitiers and Emma of Blois) and of a girl of Aubry II, count de Mâcon, and of Ermentrude de Roucy, sister of Giselbert de Roucy.
