Gisenyi

Gisenyi is a city of the Rwanda, located on northern bank of the Lac Kivu, at the border of the Democratic republic of Congo (DRC). This city is also frontier with the town of Goma in DRC. Gisenyi, as Gummed, is built with the foot of the volcano Nyiragongo. Before the administrative reform of 2006, Gisenyi was also the capital of a province ( prefecture until 2002) to which it gave its name (integrated today with the old provinces of Kibuye and Cyangugu in the province of the west).

Balneal Cité at the time of Juvénal Habyarimana, it had to yield its tourist reputation to Kibuye after the Génocide in Rwanda.
