Giselbert of Luxembourg

Giselbert of Luxembourg , born towards 1007, dead the August 14th 1059, was count de Salm and of Longwy, then count in Luxembourg ( Henri II ) of 1047 with 1059. It was wire of Frederic of Luxembourg, count in Moselgau, and perhaps of Ermentrude de Gleiberg.

Initially count of Salm and Longwy, it inherits with dead his brother Henri II the county Luxembourg, as well as loads of solicitor of the Saint-Maximin abbeys of Truces and Saint-Willibrod of Echternach. He had a disagreement with the archbishop of Truces Poppon about the Saint-Maximin abbey, which was regulated by the arbitration of his/her brother Adalbéron III, bishop of Metz.

In 1050, as the population of the town of Luxembourg had increased considerably, it increases the city while making rebuild a new enclosing wall.

  • Jutta, married to Udo de Limbourg
