Girolamo Muziano
Girolamo Muziano (or Mutien ) Italian painter of the Rebirth, born towards 1528 with Acquafredda close to Brescia, died in 1592.
It came young person to Rome, became pupil of Lambert Sustris and was exerted initially in the landscape, then was delivered to the historical kind.
It decorated its tables several churches of Rome, improved the art of the mosaic and carried out the beautiful mosaics of the Gregorian vault.
It particularly succeeded in painting the characters of a serious aspect, the penitent ones exténués by the abstinence.
It was elected to bring together the painters and sculptors affirmed with an aim of ensuring the foundation of the Académie of Saint-Luc of Rome that the pope Gregoire XIII authorizes about 1577.
Among his tables, one note:
- the Incredulity of Saint Thomas , with the Museum of Louvre;
- the Resurrection of Lazare , with the museum of Louvre;
- a Troop of anchorites listening to the word of a Father of the Desert , in the church of the Carthusian monks with Rome.
