Girma Wolde-Giorgis

Girma Wolde-Giorgis Lustred (born in 1924), is an Ethiopian politician . He is since 2001 the president of the Republic of Ethiopia.

Biography

Wole-Giorgis was used for the army under the Emperor Haile Selassie then made its entry at the Parliament where he was elected rapporteur of the Lower House. After the fall of the Emperor in 1974, it was useful under the military regime of the Derg and worked in Érythrée as an local representative of the Croix-Rouge. It turned over to the Parliament after the withdrawal of Mengistu Haile Mariam in 1991.

He was elected President the October 8th 2001 by the Parliament; he was then relatively unknown. Ethiopia is a State with parliamentary mode and the presidency is largely a function symbolic system, equipped with few being able. The presidential mandate is six years. He is re-elected at this station on Tuesday, October 9, 2007.
