Giovanni van Bronckhorst
Giovanni Van Bronckhorst , known as Gio , is a Dutch footballer born with Rotterdam the February 5th 1975 and from origin indonésienne. Current player of the Feyenoord Rotterdam, he is international Dutch since 1996.
Biography
Formed with the Feyenoord Rotterdam, Gio carried out the major part of its career out of its country. After professional beginnings with RKC Waalwijk at the time of the season 1993-1994, it returns in the club with which it is under contract to play the 4 following seasons there. In Feyenoord, it evolves/moves at the sides of Henrik Larsson and starts to be made known. It signs then with the Glasgow Rangers in 1998, club which it will attend during 3 years, in particular under the orders of Dick Advocaat.After many successes in Scotland, Gio engages with Arsenal FC which spends nearly 13 million euros to secure its services. Under the orders of Arsene Wenger, it takes an active part in the conquest of the championship of England 2002 before being wounded with the right knee and missing most of the following season. Arsenal then decides to lend it to FC Barcelona.
Following a first season successful in Catalonia, Barça definitively repurchases the rights on the player. Frank Rijkaard does of them one of the angular stones of defense blaugrana although after the arrival of Sylvinho, competition is done harder at the station of side left. Gio takes nevertheless part in 29 matches of the Liga 2004-05 gained by Barça, while marking 4 goals.
In June 2007, it signs for 3 years with the club of its beginnings, the Feyenoord Rotterdam.
It is international Dutch since 1996 and one part against the Brésil finished on the score from 2 to 2.
Profile
Gio is a left player of corridor with a great activity which enables him to adapt to the station of side defender or medium. He even sometimes played higher on the ground of the time of his beginning in Feyenoord.It is a very technical defender who goes up easily to the attack and which has a great capacity to be centered. The quality of its striking enables him to mark goals regularly.
