Giovanni da Udine

Giovanni Nanni , or Giovanni do' Ricamatori , more known under the name of Giovanni da Udine , born with Udine in 1487 and died in 1564, is a painter and an architect italien0.

It regarded as the first modern painter of the dead Natural .

Biography

Young person, Giovanni observes and draws the animals, the plants, and his father the met in training, in Udine, in the painter Pellegrino da San Daniele.

After having remained in Venice, it leaves for Rome where he becomes assisting pupil then of the painter Raphaël. It is responsible for the majority of the elements known as “decorative” of the artistic projects of its Master with Rome. Giovanni da Udine, specialist in the frescos and the grotesque decorations in Stucco, is the author of the stuccos of the Loggia di Raffaello (the Vatican, 1517-1519), of the long strings of fruits of the loggia di psiche of the Villa Farnesina; it also takes part in the construction of several monumental fountains, now destroyed.

After the death of Raphaël, it continues the projects started with its Master, in particular the Villa Madama, in Rome. After the bag of Rome, in 1527, it leaves to Florence, where it works with the stuccos of the Sagrestia Nuova (the new sacristy) with San Lorenzo, then to Venice where there too it takes share with the realization of the stuccos of the Palazzo Grimani, towards 1540. To Udine, it contributes as an architect to the construction of the Torre dell' Orologio (turn of the Clock) and to the fountain of Piazza Nuova.

Returned in Rome in 1560 to work there on the third floor of the Loggia di Raffaello of the Vatican, Giovanni da Udine dies there in 1564.
