Giovanni da San Giovanni

Giovanni Mannozzi known as Giovanni da San Giovanni (San Giovanni Valdarno, 1592 - Florence, December 9th, 1636) is an Italian painter Baroque of the school florentine considered as one of the virtuosos of the fresco with Andrea del Sarto, Giorgio Vasari and Giambattista Tiepolo.

Biography

Very young person it shows predispositions for painting, in spite of the wishes of its family that it wanted it notary and clerk.

In 1608, left for Florence it becomes, until 1612, raises Matteo Rosselli and later of Giulio Parigi, architect, scenographer and engraver.

Its inscription with the Accademia dell' Arte del Disegno date of 1612 and in the 1616 its first works appear with a predilection for paintings with fresco as the cycle testifies some to 13 paintings on the frontage of Palazzo dell' Antella places Santa Croce going back to 1619.

Painter of the large-ducal court, it carries out many frescos of the cortile of Tuscan villas like the Villa it Pozzino (1619), the Villa It Casale, the Villa Quiete (1630), with the Villa Corsini have Mezzomonte preparatory Impruneta, or drawings for frescos carried out by Volterrano representing the Ancêtres of Médicis for the interior court of the Villa médicéenne Petraia, before its death.

He dies in Florence, on December 9th, 1636 and is buried in the church San Pier Gattolino.
