Giovanni Schiaparelli
Giovanni Virginio Schiaparelli (March 14th 1835 - July 4th 1910) was a Italian Astronome . He studied with the Université of Turin and the Observatoire of Berlin, then worked during 40 years at the observatory of Brera.
He observed the objects of the Solar system before stopping on Mars of which he named the seas and the continents. Beginning 1877 it believed to have observed a rectilinear formation which it called' canali' `' (`' channel''). It will have to be waited several decades before the nature of optical illusion of these famous Canaux Martians is not updated.
Schiaparelli was the first to show the direct relationship existing between the Perséides, the Léonides, the rains of meteors and the Comet S.
His/her niece Elsa Schiaparelli became a dressmaker of reputation.
