Giovanni Leone

Giovanni Leone (born with Naples the November 3rd 1908 and died with Rome the November 9th 2001) is a politician and lawyer Italy N. Penal law professor at the university of Rome and large lawyer, appointed for the party of the Christian Democrat (cd.) constantly read again 1946 with 1967, appointed senator has life by the president of the Republic Giuseppe Saragat in 1967, he was president of the House of Commons of 1955 with 1963 and chair the Italian Council of Ministers in 1963 and 1968.

Leone was the chief of two governments known as " balneari" (balneal), being completely transitory cabinets just to arrive at autumnal session of the Parliament and to thus allow the formation of a new government.

President of the Italian Republic of December 1971 at June 1978. He resigned of his item six months before the end of his mandate, following the pressures of the Italian Communist party (NCV) because of a virulent press campaign which showed it, without any base, of corruption. Since June 1978 he was senator has life as a former president of the Republic.

The lawyer

As a lawyer, in 1955 he was the inspirer of the revision of the Italian criminal procedure code (the code " Rocco") 1930, code which was replaced by the current one in 1989. It was also one of the writers of the Code of the Navigation of the 1942, which is still in force. It belonged to the International association of the criminal law.

In 2005 his/her Giancarlo son was named vice managing director of the Italian public channel SPOKE. ----
