Giovanni Fontana

Giovanni Fontana (Melide, 1546 - 1614), is an architect Tessin ois.

It was one of the architects of the church of Saint-Pierre of Rome, but excelled especially in the Hydraulique. It restores the old aqueduct of Auguste, which brought the water of the Lac of Bracciano to the top of the Janicuie, and builds, with Maderno, the Fontaine Pauline, where this water comes to succeed; it made arrive water at Frascati for the embellishment of the villas, a view-point with Mondragone, establishes with Tivoli the dam which was used to form the old cascade of the Anio and raised dams with Ravenne and with Ferrare.

His/her brother, much more notable, is Domenico Fontana (1543 - 1607).
