Giovanni Battista Passeri
Giovanni Battista Passeri (Rome, ~ 1610 - April 22nd 1679) is an Italian painter baroque and a historiographer.
Biography
Between 1625 and 1630, it carries out its studies of letters in Collegio Romano and acquires its first rudiments in painting.Raise Domenichino, he works then with Frascati and painted paintings of dead kind and Natures. 1641, he pronounces the funeral oration of the Dominiquin to the Academy of Saint-Luc and carries out a portrait of the painter.
He is more known for his biographical work of the painters, sculptors and architects active in Rome and died between 1641 and 1673 (written between 1650 and 1679 and only published in 1772), writes literary romantic and chronic anecdotic painters .
In 1661, it carries out a fresco with the Palais Pamphili.
He became president of the Accademia di San Luca, which contained its portrait by Domenichino (maintaining with the Uffizi).
Its nephew Giuseppe Passeri was of his pupils.
