Giovanni Balbi

Giovanni Balbi , known as also Johannes Januensis de Balbis , known as also Jean de Gènes , is a Dominicain génois, died in 1298, and author of the work Summa grammaticalis quae vocatur catholicon , also said Catholicon , first Latin Dictionnaire in a strictly alphabetical order which will be used as model with the Renaissance, where it will be printed on several occasions. It was used as model with the Catholicon of Breton the Jehan Lagadeuc. He is also the author of a Summa Theologica, a treaty of Comput and of a comment on the Four Gospels. -----
