Giovan Battista Vanni
Giovan Battista Vanni (Florence, 1599 or 1600 - Pistoia 1660) is a painter of the school florentine.
It is formed near Aurelio Lomi, of Matteo Rosselli, Jacopo da Empoli, Cristofano Allori and Giulio Parigi.
Biography
From 1624 to the 1632, it operates in Rome by being subject to the influence of the French painters who are active there.Returned to Florence, after a short voyage to Venice, it is dedicated to the crowned subjects, by producing many pictorial works.
About 1660, on a ordering of the abbot Ippolito Bracciolini, it has to decorate with fresco the cloister with the monastery olivétain with Saint Benoit in Pistoia. Work consists of twelve tympanums which must tell the Histoire of the riders about Saint Benoit . July 27th, 1660, the artist is taken high fevers, of a faintness and dies.
