Biography

At the conclusion of a particularly brilliant career in karting (with in particular a championship of the world junior in 1994, and two championships of Europe Formulates has in 1995 and 1996), Giorgio Pantano passes to the automobile sport in 2000, directly in the Championnat of Germany de Formule 3. The Italian confirms his great potential while being crowned as of his first season in the discipline, which enables him to tie first contacts in Formule 1 and to carry out tests deprived on behalf of the stable Benetton.

From 2001, Pantano reaches the international championship of Formule 3000, of which he affirms himself like one of the strong men three years during, but without never managing to take down the title, the fault partly with a technical entourage less powerful than competition. In parallel, Pantano performs more tests with various teams of Formula 1 (McLaren, Williams, Minardi), but without that not leading to a regular engagement.

It is into 2004 that Pantano takes down finally a wheel of holder Formulates 1 of them, on behalf of the stable Jordan Grand Prix. But the Irish team is then with most badly, and Pantano strongly sullies its reputation while fighting in bottom with grid and while being clearly dominated by its fellow-member Nick Heidfeld.

Since 2005, Pantano is gone down again of a stage since it disputes the championship GP2 Series. It also took part in two handles of the championship IndyCar in 2005 on behalf of the Chip Ganassi Racing.
