Giorgio Baffo

Giorgio Baffo (Venice, 1694 - Venice, 1768), was a poet and a famous senator of the République of Venice at the 18th century.

Giorgio Baffo was, with Ruzzante, Carlo Goldoni and Berto Barbarani one of the major writers in Venetian language. He was a prolific author of licencieux sonnets, 760.

Baffo, author of writings “satyric” full with mischievousness

Baffo was a philosophical poet who dedicated his writings “to the men and to the women liking to laugh and knowing to look at the things of the good side”. It pointed out that “one finds neither criticisms there neither offenses against the people, it is question neither of God there, nor of the kings. ”
