Giorgio Abetti
Giorgio Abetti (October 5th 1882 - August 24th 1982) was a Astronome Italy N specialist in the Sun. It was born with Padoue, his father was the astronomer Antonio Abetti. It made its studies with the Université of Padoue and Rome.
It began its career at the observatory of the Collegio Romano, in Rome, like assisting astronomer. In 1921, it succeeded his/her father as director of the '' Osservatorio Astrofisico di Arcetri '', station which it occupied until in 1957. He was at the same time professor with the Université of Florence.
Giorgio Abetti is known to have directed forwardings to observe eclipse S of the Sun, in Siberia in 1936 and in Sudan in 1952. He was also professor with the Université of Cairo in 1949 and 1949. He was vice-president of the International Astronomical Union in 1938 and accepted a money medal of the Italian Geographic Society (1915), the premio reale of the Accademia dei Lincei (1925) and the medal Jansen (1937).
The crater Abetti on the the Moon and the Astéroïde 2646 Abetti were named thus in its honor and the honor of his/her father.
