Anecdote

By gaining the Turn in 1938 then in 1948, Bartali carried out an exploit but it counts among the recordmen in the longevity of the victories of stages in the Turn by gaining its first stage in 1937 and gaining the last (its 12th) in 1950. It thus registers its name with the prize list of the Turn of the victories at 13 years of interval like Louis Mottiat and Rene Vietto. Only Jean Alavoine gained stages at 14 years of variation.

Henri Pelissier, Philippe Thys, Antonin Magne, and André Leducq also gained stages over 2 decades different. It will be necessary to wait until 1963 and the success of André Darrigade to renew this exploit. Jean Stablinski, Raymond Poulidor, Felice Gimondi, Gerben Karstens, Ferdinand Bracke, Joaquim Agostinho, Lucien Van Impe, Lance Armstrong, Richard Virenque and Cédric Vasseur will come to add their name to this prize list.
