Ginger Baker
Peter Edward " Ginger" Baker (born the August 19th 1939 with Lewisham close to London) is a Batteur English, famous because member of the Power trio Cream of 1966 with 1968 with Jack Bruce and Eric Clapton.
Biography
At its beginnings, he plays in the Blues Incorporated of Alexis Korner, which includes/understands many musicians of passage, going and coming, of which Cyril Davis, Charlie Watts, Mick Jagger and Jack Bruce.With this last, they leave the group of Korner and join the various formations of Graham Bond until in 1966, date on which they will create Cream, with Eric Clapton.
Ginger Baker finds Clapton in 1969 in the group Blind Faith in which also Steve Winwood evolves/moves. At the beginning of the Years 1970, it turns and records with a group of Jazz - Rock: Ginger Baker' S Air Force . It is also the meeting with Fela Kuti which gives birth in 1971 to an excellent disc Fela With Ginger Baker Live! .
Since 1986, Ginger Baker left several albums Jazz fusion and turned with groups of styles varied (Jazz, Classical music, Rock) and even recently with Cream.
Style
Its style is characterized by a great virtuosity, undeniable qualities of showman and by the use of percussions seldom used in the music Rock before.Controlling at the same time the explosive play the made-to-order of Keith Moon of the Who and the play more in withdrawal which he had learned with groups from Jazz during the end from the Années 1950 and the beginning from the Années 1960, he established new standards in the professionalism of the Batteur S of Rock.
Baker is also able to carry out very long solos of battery (as on " Toad ") on a battery which counts two large case (a practice inspired by the Batteur of Jazz Louie Bellson), characteristics which will make date in the history of the rock'n'roll, especially of the Hard-rock. In addition, these solos were not unpleasing as of many solos of the time which were shown more conclusive.
